Your Quick Guide To Joining

You can join through O2’s Flexible Benefits arrangement in the following three ways.

  1. New starter - when you first start at O2 you will receive a letter from the Flexible Benefits team telling you how to log onto the Flexible Benefits site. The O2 Pension Plan is one of your Flexible Benefit choices shown on your ‘Sign up form’. Simply follow the steps below.
  2. Annual enrolment - opens each year during November only. (Look out for more information on here nearer the time).
  3. Life event - a defined life changing event such as a promotion, moving house, getting married, having children etc. Call Talk2hr and select option 1 to find out more.

Here are some easy steps to join through Flexible Benefits:

  1. Click on the Flex Sign-Up button.
  2. Update or confirm your details when prompted.
  3. Click on the View/Change button for Pension.
  4. Select whether you wish to join the Plan as a salary sacrifice or non-salary sacrifice member (this is the way you will pay your contributions to the Plan). Paying by salary sacrifice can save you National Insurance (NI), but there are potential implications for any statutory benefits you may be eligible to receive and your ability to have a refund of contributions upon leaving the Plan. Please read the information on salary sacrifice in the Flexible Benefits pages and also here before you make a decision.
  5. Choose your contribution rate. The minimum is 4%. O2 will match your contribution up to 10%.
  6. Choose where you want your retirement account to be invested. You have the option to let the Trustee make this decision for you by selecting the default fund, which is the Balanced Lifestyle option (remember to select your retirement age too, the default is 65). Alternatively, if you want some say over the level of risk in your fund then you can select one of the other Lifestyle options. For those who are more confident there is also the Selfstyle option, which allows you freedom to select from a number of funds.
  7. Check the tick box to confirm you understand the Terms and Conditions and the click ‘select’. Your choice will appear on your election summary. Once you submit your final Flexible Benefit choices you’re on your way to saving for your future.
  8. Look out for your joining confirmation letter in the post and the deduction from your salary. Happy saving!
